About Post-Surgery Medical Massage
Kimby has been on both sides of the table when it comes to surgery and post-surgical massage, so she intimately understands what works and why. After her own extensive surgery she researched and studied multiple new modalities that not only helped her own body, but have become the basis of helping clients heal post-surgery for over two decades. Using a combination of Lymphatic Fusion™, soft tissue massage, scar release tools, and various other therapies and modalities, every session is tailored to accommodate each person’s very individual needs.
Whether you've had knee or hip replacement, c-section, cancer surgery, abdominal or back surgery, or reconstructive surgery like a mommy makeover, facelift, tummy tuck, liposuction, BBL, gender-affirming surgery or breast surgery, Kimby has extensive experience in post-surgery recovery. She's worked with clients and surgical care teams in the US and abroad, so she's familiar with recommendations from diverse surgeons. Massage therapy, specifically techniques that addresses the lymphatic system, can help prevent complications and encourage healing by relieving pain, reducing swelling, toning skin, managing scar tissue, recovering muscle tone, and more.
Many doctors suggest lymphatic massage immediately following surgery to help process inflammation and ease pain, while others suggest waiting until stitches or drains have been removed, so please consult your clinician. That said, benefits can be felt at any point in your recovery and even very old scar tissue can improve with bodywork!
FAQs
I had a skin removal/tummy tuck – how soon after can I schedule a session?
In post-surgery recovery houses in Mexico and other counties, patients receive lymphatic massage the day following surgery and every day of their stay. I have witnessed the benefits of this in many of my clients and I am comfortable beginning your therapy immediately as well.
I had a mastectomy with lymph nodes removed – can I still get lymphatic massage?
YES! Lymphatic massage when done properly can help prevent lymphedema and keep the tissues free of stagnant fluid.
Is this type of massage helpful following liposuction?
Yes. Lymphatic work and massage can help smooth out the tissues, relieve pain and swelling, and help prevent complications.
I recently had my gall bladder removed – can Lymphatic Fusion™ help me recover?
Half of the lymphatic system is located in the gut. The lymphatic system is our body’s filter system and plays a huge role in our immunity, so massage following any abdominal surgery can help strengthen the immune system and cleanse the body of toxins and inflammatory cells.
